Feebee - 9 DPO/CD1

What a day - a BFP, AF and plenty of tears. Don't have the time or energy to go into detail now, but just a couple of hours after a definite pink line, AF arrived. I'm gutted and concerned about the length of my luteal phase. Don't know how I'm ever going to implant an egg if my body keeps deciding it's time for AF at 7/8dpo. Will go and see doctor next week.

Feebee-- Aww... hunny... I am so sorry to hear that you had good and bad news all in one day. Let me know what happens about your LP... I think you may need progesterone to lengthen it. I know I have to take that for different reasons.

Wow, that sounds like such a hard day! I'm so sorry. I hope your doctor helps you quickly. I just wanted to mention, be prepared to look for a second opinion. Some doctors aren't very informed about how cycles work, and there are some who will try to tell you that the length of the luteal phase doesn't matter, or that the length of the entire cycle is what matters, or other nonsense. Hopefully you've got an informed doctor, and you'll just get to get help right away, but definitely don't give up until you get someone to listen to your concern and help you with it.

Also, you may find that the recommendation is to work on improving the quality of ovulation rather than attacking the luteal phase directly through progesterone supplements. Many doctors believe that the ovulation quality is what's determining the luteal phase length, and that it's more effective to improve the ovulation (through clomid, etc.) rather than just length the luteal phase with progesterone (since poor ovulation quality would result in poorer egg quality, no matter how long you stretch out the luteal phase).

However you end up solving the problem, I hope it happens quickly and easily for you. Good luck, and hugs!

Hi there,
So sorry about your new cycle...I actually had about the same happen...tested cycle day 11 in the evening it looked positive then had HUGE temp drop day 12 with spotting. No AF yet and almost no spotting but no + HPT & my temps are still down.So...I am definitely out of the running myself.I read a discouraging article about HPT's and how accurate they are (AREN'T!)most really exaggerate their sensitivity-this was according to research by a major OB-GYN organization..will give you the source if you want..I have to find it again...I was Googling the sensitivity of the test I took and found it.

Anyway, as far as your luteal phase goes temping would help you know exactly what you are dealing with. After ovulation you see a clear temp rise & then you know you are in your luteal phase-some months it is possibly to gear up to ovulate (Have + OPK)but not actually do it...only the temp rise let's you know for sure.
I always thought I had a short one but have found my ovulation day jumps around so much that I don't....but sometimes I ovulate really early.

Give yourself a pamper...hug your little one & I am hoping for better luck for us both this next cycle.

I am calling this cycle day 3 as I refuse to include the spotting as my last cycle. At least this way I feel progress. Yucky & crampy, finally full force AF. My BFP was with a Clear Choice cup test...after researching Ifound it is known to have false positives but for an evening thought it might mean something real.

Hope you are doing O.k....good luck with your Dr..just checking in...with motherhood I think became a worse worrier than I was before (bad news)so I had to see how you are.Take care,

Hey Feebee - So sorry to hear what a hard time you are having at the moment. Must be so confusing for you when you cycle is out of whack. Such a cruel thing to happen - Pink line and then AF.

Try to be stong and look forward to next month....

Thanks for all your help girls, it really does make a difference.

I have spoken to my doctor who is going to measure my progesterone and oestrogen levels at CD21 and see what the problem is. She'll then refer me to a specialist. I've also spoken to a fertility care practitioner who has given me advice about tracking my cycle. All agree that a LP of 7/8 days is way too short.

Lisau - so sorry to hear your news too, all the earlier signs made it look like this was going to be your month. Hope you had a fab halloween (we did, really cheered me up), and let's get working on next month!

Can you send me the link to the HPT report? Thanks.
